Anyone on Oppo use one of these? What are they like to use?

My dad has that one. It's the only soldering gun I've ever known. Works well for my small projects. I personally prefer a pen type soldering iron for most projects though. The gun can be kinda bulky.

they are ok on bigger things, but I do some smaller circuit board soldering sometimes, and wouldn't expect to ever use that for smaller stuff.

It is pretty top-heavy, I've noticed.

I got a standard stick Weller for Christmas last year. Works great. I had never soldered anything prior, but have completed a number of projects with it. First thing I did was was solder a new wire harness for the replacement stereo I put in my Evo. Easy to use and it turned out great.

Works really great up until you get tip-fixing screw corrosion, or drop it and crack the shit out of the plastic case or frangle the trigger. Stay on top of all of those, and you'll be fine - makes for a good solder gun all around.

I fix electronics for a living, and use a soldering gun ALL THE TIME. My first 'nice' gun was that exact one. I've since worn it out, but it put down a couple miles of lead before that happened. I still use the plastic case it came in with my new gun.

big, hot, unwieldy but serviceable. I strongly prefer a low voltage DC iron. I've got a Hakko 937 that I've had for a lotta years that I like using more than any other soldering iron/station/gun i've ever used. There are a TON of tips available and it gets hot FAST.

I have a butane soldering iron . I love it. It does everything I ask and I don't have a problem getting into tight spaces with it. All I need to do is find more tips for it.
